DAY 6 WORLD TROPHY RESULTS

Kurt Caselli won the E2 class overall, posted the second fastest time in the last MX special test behind Eero Remes of Finland and led the Team USA Trophy team to a solid position on the podium. What a week for Kurt and such a strong effort by the entire Trophy Team.

DAY 3 RESULTS

The official results are now in and the US Trophy team is solidly in 3rd place with Spain in second, and Finland keeping their lead. Destry Abbott bounced back from a fall on Day 2 to put in a solid effort today.

The course was all new parts of it were in a ski area. This was great riding until the rains came and made things pretty dicey.

The US Junior Trophy Team moved up to 4th place, pushing Australia to 5th.

The US Women’s trophy team has retired with Amanda Mastin encountering mechanical problems.

The club teams are doing well in spite of the difficult conditions. Fred Hoess is in 4th place in C1 on his Kawasaki. Caleb Wohletz is in 13th place in C2, and Maz Gerston is in 12th place in C3.

Tomorrow will be a different course with 2 laps and 3 time checks and 3 special tests per lap. And this one will be 340 KM long. This could be the toughest day yet.

Day 2 of the ISDE is complete and the USA Trophy Team has moved up into 3rd position. The US junior team has also moved up from 7th position into 5th.

DAY 2 UPDATE

Day 2 is underway. The course is the same as day 1 with 300 KM [211 miles] of riding consisting of 2 laps with 4 special tests for a total of 8 special tests.

Eero Remes has the best time in test 1 with Juha Salminen in second. Kurt Caselli finishes 8th. In the next 2 tests Remes has problems and Salminen of Finland and Matthew Phillips of Australia set the best times. Remes sweeps the next two special tests.

The order in the overall after 7 of 8 tests:

4. Marko Tarkkalla FIN
5. Cristobal Guerro ESP

In overall times, Kurt Caselli remains in 3rd spot behind Remes and Salminen.

JEFF FREDETTE AND THE LOST CLUTCH

Jeff Fredette’s flight from Chicago to Helsinki was delayed for a day and a half. Then his luggage did not arrive for a couple of days. It arrived Sunday night along with his favored Rekluse clutch. He was able to put in his Rekluse clutch in the 10 minutes before the start.

Jeff Fredette installs Rekluse clutch before start. Big audience including Team USA director Gunny Claypoole far right. Moose Racing supplied the team jackets for the whole USA team.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have all the parts the first time and had to re-do it after starting and discovering the clutch wouldn’t engage. He lost a few minutes, of course, but at least he’s still going en route to what he hopes is a 31st Six Days finish.

Jeff Fredette will be competing in 31st ISDE in Finland. Although his bags didn’t make it when he did Jeff is in good spirits and ready to add another ISDE to his extensive resume.
