France again dominated the women’s cup with solid performances by all 3 riders. Team USA had a very difficult week, with an injury to Nicole Bradford early on and Amanda Mastin having bike problems. Only France finished with the team intact.

DAY 6 FINAL RESULTS – Overview

The final moto is done ISDE 2011 comes to a close and all that is left is the Awards ceremony tonight. Team USA Trophy is one the podium with a third place finish behind Finland and Spain.

Kurt Caselli won the E2 class.

The US Junior Trophy Team placed fourth behind France, Sweden, and Great Britain.

In women’s cup the order was France, Finland, Sweden, Australia, and USA.

We will break down the results by group as we get the details.

IGNITION3 CREW –

The creative horsepower behind Ignition3 and the ISDE.TV updates and DVDs are brothers Jon and Jeff Lague. They have been shooting the ISDE since 2002. They’ve traveled the world following Team USA and have become part of the Team USA family. When they got to the starting line this AM Chuck Weir of the AMA gave them cupcakes to celebrate their birthday. In this photo by Mark Kariya, Jon has taken a first bite, Jeff looks like needs his morning coffee before his breakfast/cupcake.

In case you are wondering, that rig is called a “slider”. Something the guys came up with for some interesting shots. It gives you pans that are not really pans. Just part of the innovation that IGNITION3 puts into their work.

CASELLI GETS SPEEDING TICKET – on his fastest day

Kurt Caselli day 4 special test

Mark Kariya aka “Kato” sent me this story:

Kurt Caselli passes through a clearing in the line of boulders that served as a deterrent to attacks from Russia to the east, along with a network of bunkers, trenches and firing positions.

He won three tests today, though he also lost four minutes while picking up a speeding ticket. Since the circumstances were a bit suspect (he wasn’t the only one cited, though no one from Finland in the group were ticketed), he later got those minutes back after the FIM Jury meeting.

Ignition3 has produced DVDs featuring Team USA in the ISDE since the 2002 event in the Czech Republic. All are available in the DVD store section of this site. The crew is in Finland shooting the 2011 DVD which is scheduled to release in November.

DAY 4 UPDATE – Caselli tears up special tests!

Kurt Caselli is tearing up this new day 4 course with overall wins in Special tests 1, 3, and 5. He also placed 2nd in test 6 by .04 seconds behind Juha Salminen!

He was 3rd in test 2 and 8th in test 4. Seems like this course is to his liking.

Overall he is in 4th spot behind the 3 Fins, Remes,Salminen, and Tarkala, but the spread between 4th and 2nd is only one minute.

Final results for the day are not in, but with this performance there is a good chance the US will eat into Spain’s position ahead of them….stay tuned.

DAY 4 ROUTE – new tests

DAY 4 is a completely new course and this one heads out east towards the Russian border. This is a long one with a total of 340 KM [211 miles] with with 3 special tests. There is a long transit section of 34 KM before the first special test. The riders then will take 2 loops of the course for a total of 6 special tests. The tests are quite sandy.

DAY 3 RESULTS

The official results are now in and the US Trophy team is solidly in 3rd place with Spain in second, and Finland keeping their lead. Destry Abbott bounced back from a fall on Day 2 to put in a solid effort today.

The course was all new parts of it were in a ski area. This was great riding until the rains came and made things pretty dicey.

The US Junior Trophy Team moved up to 4th place, pushing Australia to 5th.

The US Women’s trophy team has retired with Amanda Mastin encountering mechanical problems.

The club teams are doing well in spite of the difficult conditions. Fred Hoess is in 4th place in C1 on his Kawasaki. Caleb Wohletz is in 13th place in C2, and Maz Gerston is in 12th place in C3.

Tomorrow will be a different course with 2 laps and 3 time checks and 3 special tests per lap. And this one will be 340 KM long. This could be the toughest day yet.
