DAY 3 RESULTS

The official results are now in and the US Trophy team is solidly in 3rd place with Spain in second, and Finland keeping their lead. Destry Abbott bounced back from a fall on Day 2 to put in a solid effort today.

The course was all new parts of it were in a ski area. This was great riding until the rains came and made things pretty dicey.

The US Junior Trophy Team moved up to 4th place, pushing Australia to 5th.

The US Women’s trophy team has retired with Amanda Mastin encountering mechanical problems.

The club teams are doing well in spite of the difficult conditions. Fred Hoess is in 4th place in C1 on his Kawasaki. Caleb Wohletz is in 13th place in C2, and Maz Gerston is in 12th place in C3.

Tomorrow will be a different course with 2 laps and 3 time checks and 3 special tests per lap. And this one will be 340 KM long. This could be the toughest day yet.

DAY 3 UPDATE

DAY 3 is almost finished and this new course has been a challenge for everyone. Eero Remes won special test 2, and then dropped to 11th in test 3 with Juha Salminen winning.

Kurt Caselli scored his first overall test win in test 4 where he was .82 seconds ahead of Matthew Phillips of Australia, with Finland’s Salminen, Tarkkala, and Remes behind them.

Test 6 was won by Tarkkala with Remes 7th and Russell Bobbitt of Team USA in 9th. We are waiting for the final results……it will be interesting.

DAY 3 PREVIEW

Day 3 will be a completely new course with 3 time checks and 6 new special tests. The length is 239 KM [148 miles]. Most of the route is more north of Kotka and inland, away from the ocean.

Its the half way point of the 2010 ISDE and our cameras caught up with Nathan Woods at the end of Day 3. Woods is racing in his 2nd ISDE event. His first one was Greece in 2008 and this year in Morelia, Mexico.

Day 3 Video highlights are here again and we are listening to your comments and trying to fit in what we can. I know some of you might be commenting that we are teasing you too much with the daily videos, but the whole point of these is to give you a taste of what is to come in the full length DVD. The good news however is that we will have the 2009 ISDE DVD complete and available earlier then we have ever had before: 2009 Holiday Season

Day 3 Results

The USA World Trophy, Junior Trophy and Women’s Cup Teams remain in the same position as last year. The US World Trophy Team is still in sixth position with good rides put in by the whole team. Kurt Caselli is still the fastest American and is 4th overall in the E3 class and teammate Nate Kanney is in 13th overall. Jr team member Russell Bobbitt is putting in a great ride with a 13th in the ultra-competitive E2 class and Destry Abbott just behind him in 15th. Rookie Timmy Weigand is doing well in his first Six Days. Weigand was 9th on the day and 10th overall in the E1 class, fellow six days rookie Damon Huffman is in 17th in the E2 class.

Day 3 Race Report

Today was a new course heading north out of Figueira da Foz, into an area that included some rocky ravines and a special test on a mountain top. Most of the tests were harder packed and not as sandy as the first 2 days.

The USA Junior trophy team started the day in third place and did not improve their position today. They are now 2 minutes behind France, while Spain still maintains their lead. David Kamo is out, but the team is doing very well. With some very fast times. Jamie Lanza, Russell Bobbitt and Cory Buttrick are very quick and are doing really well in the special tests. Cory Buttrick was assessed a 2 minute penalty on his Monday results after having trouble with a tire change and getting to the final check late.

The USA trophy team had no disasters today but they have not improved their 6 place position from yesterday. Kurt Caselli is in 7th place overall at the end of the day. Timmy Weigand is in 29th, and Destry Abbott is in 33rd.

Team USA women’s team has not moved up in the standings either. They are still in fourth behind France, Sweden, and Australia. All three are still running well.

Juha Salminen is out for the week with an ignition problem on his BMW. The bike did not start on the starting ramp this morning and his ISDE was finished for the year. This is his third year in a row that he has not finished an ISDE.

The same course will be used tomorrow so the riders will know it better, but it will also be rutted and dug up even more than today.

ISDE 2007 Daily Update – Day 3

Day 3 is the half way point of the race. Regardless of whether you were an optimist or a pessimist the race is half over. Check out the video for some great action.
