France Still Dominating the ISDE World Trophy

Team France, together with KTM factory rider Johnny Aubert, who has the honor of leading off for day four of this great Enduro classic continues to dominate the prestigious World Trophy and the team charges forward determined to retain the title

Italy, with a strong KTM contingent of Thomas Oldrati, Simone Albergoni and Alessandro Belometti is still placed second around six minutes behind and Finland, with KTM factory rider Eero Remes and KTM rider Oskari Kantolinen is currently in third place. KTM’s Mike Brown and Kurt Caselli together with their teammates have USA in fourth overall to give top KTM riders a good cross section of representation in the leading teams at the end of the half way mark.

As riders and bikes begin to feel the strain of six continuous days of Enduro riding, riders tackles a new route with nine special tests, which they must ride again on Day Four. At least skies clouded to provide a welcome relief from the characteristic heat of Mexico even if it did little to settle the dust.

Aubert is emerging as the fastest rider and leads the progressive results list for the E2 class and contributed to his team including Antoine Meo (Husqvarna),Sebastien Guillaume (Husqvarna), Rodrig Thain (TM) and Christophe Nambotin (Gas Gas) they collectively took the day’s honors to be one minute in front of Italy. Day Three saw Finland again third and USA fourth and these are the teams that are dominating the most prestigious battle.

The Junior trophy is an all Spanish affair, powered up by two exceptional young KTM riders, Lorenzo Santolino and Mario Roman, who both excelled in the junior competition at World Championship level this season. Sweden, France, Finland and the USA follow them in the overall Junior Trophy standings.

In the individual E1 category, it was again Antoine Meo who took line honors followed by KTM factory rider Finland’s Eero Remes and Italy’s Alex Salvini (Husqvarna). Team USA KTM rider Kurt Caselli was fourth. These four riders also maintain their positions in the overall E1 category.

Day Three say E2 dominated by KTM’s Aubert finishing 54 seconds in front of Italian Manuel Monni with Juha Salminen of Finland third. Johnny Aubert now sits more than three minutes clear in the overall E2 standings. Monni and KTM’s Thomas Oldrati are three minutes behind but only 10 seconds apart.

Line honors in E3 went to France’s Seb Guillaume ahead of his teammate Christophe Nambotin (Gas Gas) with Italy’s Simone Albergoni (KTM) placed third.
